Analysis of the reality of national medical laboratories

The aim of the current project is to comprehensively map and evaluate the laboratory diagnostic network including legislations, policies, protocols, guidelines, quality control measures, workflows, and standard operating procedures concerning communicable diseases on a national level within Jordan. This project also aims to recommend evidence-based interventions to improve access, capacity and quality of the diagnostic network to improve the detection of priority pathogens, including emerging and reemerging disease threats. This mapping endeavor encompasses a multiphase approach, including desktop reviews, interviews with key informants, and on-site field visits.

The insights gathered from this multiphase approach will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the existing laboratory landscape. The intention behind these findings is to assist policymakers and stakeholders in pinpointing areas for improvement, thereby facilitating evidence-based decision-making and the development of effective strategies to strengthen communicable disease detection and management. This approach will also pave the way for the development of effective strategies to strengthen Jordan’s response system for communicable diseases through laboratory services.
