Research, Policy and Training Directorate
Overview
The Directorate of Research, Policies and Training is the cornerstone and reference for formulating health policies and decision-making. Scientific studies and research are a reliable source of information on many topics, and provide solutions and explanations for many specific dilemmas and phenomena. For these purposes, the Directorate of Research, Policy and Training was established in 2022 as one of the technical directorates at the Jordan Center for Disease Control with the aim of promoting public health in Jordan through effective contribution in national and international scientific research, formulating effective and appropriate health policies based on scientific evidence, and building Capacity of health personnel related to of epidemics and communicable diseases issues.

Goals and Objectives
Promoting public health in Jordan through active participation in scientific research and studies at the national and international levels.
Formulate effective and appropriate health policies based on scientific evidence.
Capacity building of health personnel with regard to issues of epidemics and communicable diseases.
Support public health programs and policies by conducting scientific research related to public health, strengthening its role at the national and international levels, and providing decision makers in Jordan with the latest updates and studies' results, both locally and internationally.
Dispatching and providing the ministries and authorities concerned with epidemics and communicable diseases with evidence-based and appropriate policies aiming to prevent, control and response to epidemics and communicable diseases in Jordan.
Tasks and Duties
Preparing and formulating health policies and strategies regarding combating epidemics and communicable diseases for prevention, control and containment, in cooperation with partners, and recommending them to the concerned authorities.
Conducting case studies regarding the epidemiological situation at the national, regional and global levels to understand the epidemiology and trends of the epidemics and communicable diseases.
Studying national and international scientific documents, references and strategic plans related to public health issues and its applications.
Conduct scientific research and evidence-based studies at the national level to support decision makers in Jordan.
Reviewing and developing plans and policies related to scientific research related to epidemics and communicable diseases in Jordan.
Developing documentation policies for medical cases within the center's scope of work.
Providing decision-makers in Jordan with the latest updates and national and international scientific studies related to public health and emerging health events.
Enhancing the role of the scientific research in national institutions concerned with epidemics and communicable diseases in Jordan.
Developing research networks to link researchers, public health professionals and decision makers.
Preparing and managing programs for epidemiological surveys and statistics.
Developing different scenarios and predictions for disease threats and epidemics, and how to respond to them, and mitigate and contain their impact.
Scaling-up the capacity of public health professionals and workers on scientific research related to epidemics and communicable diseases in Jordan.
Work and coordinate with the ministries and authorities concerned with epidemics and communicable diseases to activate the role of scientific research in their work.
Work and coordinate with all directorates of the Jordan Center for Disease Control to conduct and facilitate conducting scientific studies related each directorate scope of work.
Organizing and conduct scientific events (conferences, symposiums, seminars) nationally related to epidemics and communicable diseases and their latest updates, and presenting the results of the center's studies.
Informing the public health professionals and workers with the latest updates in local and global epidemics and communicable diseases, especially those who pose a potential threat to Jordan.
Publishing scientific studies in prestigious international scientific journals.
