 Overview

 

Laboratory confirmation of suspected diseases that may cause outbreaks is considered an essential tool for the success of the epidemiological / health monitoring process. Hence, the importance of laboratory epidemiological monitoring, and taking preventive measures based on its results to limit the spread of epidemics and diseases and their consequences. Accordingly, raised the importance of establishing the Laboratory Directorate in 2022 as one of the technical directorates in the Jordan Center for Disease Control.

  Goals and Objectives

 

 Establishing a reference laboratory and providing it with the latest necessary equipment and with national laboratory professionals to support the vision adopted by the Center.

 Improving the quality of the national laboratory practices, by following up the application of quality standards and following up on the latest international recommendations and guidelines.

  Tasks and duties

 

  Managing the Center's laboratory, which is considered a scientific reference lab for the rest of the national institutions, which is used for advanced testing, confirmation of various results, and technical consultations.

  Apply accreditation and quality standards for laboratories.

  Conducting advanced laboratory tests for individuals, society and health institutions as part of the Centre's mandate.

  Conducting various researches and providing support and a suitable environment for institutions and researchers within the available capabilities.

  Conducting systematic surveys of the work of national laboratories, their capabilities and the competencies of their employees, identifying their needs, reviewing and developing protocols and policies based on local developments and international recommendations.

  Permanent coordination between laboratories for the optimal use, preservation and proper exploitation of resources.

 Improving the quality of epidemiological data connected to laboratory results and analyzing them optimally in order to be utilized in issuing and developing health policies.

  Preparing emergency response plans for laboratories and providing the necessary reagents to detect infectious diseases as strategic stock.
